Sometimes I wish they could just stay little forever.
Riley would stay four. He would love action figures by day and snuggling by night. He would love his sister with his entire being and would be fiercely protective of her. He would play with Ninja Turtles in one breath and baby toys in the next. He would leave his friends to come tell me he loves me before returning to play. He would call Storm Troopers "Orange Trookers" and play with his "Light Saver". His blue eyes and floppy blonde hair would melt my heart!
Sadie would stay 14 months. She would be more mischievious on her best day than Riley ever was on his worst! She would love blankies and baby dolls... and Ninja Turtles. She would yell "Du!" every time she heard a dog bark. She would put her hand to her ear and talk on the "phone", saying something that sounded a whole lot like "hi". She might even still sit on my desk, take the phone of the hook so it beeps and throw everything on the floor as she is right now! Her hair would have ringlets when it was wet and her giggle would come all the way from her tummy!
They would play chase together, laugh together, and look to each other when they needed comfort. I took Riley and Sadie to the park today and Riley said that he wished there were other kids there to play with. But then he said, "But it's ok because I have my sister to play with." Little pieces of my dream come true.
If only they could stay little....but who would want to miss all the wonder to come?
